  A Diagnostic Meeting

 

Yesterday afternoon I attended a meeting organized by Mr. R. All the participators were senior two teachers from Linzi middle schools. The main purpose was to analyze and evaluate this mid-term English exam results.

Four key topics:

1.     Display the correctness rate of each question. We could find out which question was done well and which was done badly. So this can help us to concentrate on the weak points in the following teaching and studying.

2.     Conduct specific analysis of each examination question. Put more emphasis on the key mistakes many students made in the exam.

3.     Compare the students’ numbers of different grades. We were called on to push forward the top grade students and care more about the low grade ones.

4.     Detailed requirements to improve teaching and learning efficiency. And made a plea to the teachers to devote to the education career.

This mid-term exam was the first one organized by Linzi alone as a whole. Some confusion happened unexpectedly.

It was said that marking papers was not done carefully to some extent, because some errors occurred in the marking process, such as tallying the total scores and giving wrong checks.

I realize that we English teachers should try all possible means to arouse the students’ interest in learning English and make every effort to improve their marks as much as we can.

 

Four regular lessons this morning.

This afternoon filled out each student’s forms connected with this mid-term examination analysis. Found two students who are good at computer to help input data. These forms are urgent!

A busy afternoon!

And at 4:30pm there is going to be a school meeting about subsidy allocation.
