In the early morning there was a heavy fog, making a grey shroud covering the whole city.

It’s a long time since I last experienced such a big fog.

During my childhood in my village, there were often heavy fogs there, much heavier than this one. I couldn’t see anything just a few meters ahead of me. The road was not even at that time. Although I was quite familiar with the road I took every day, I must be careful to go to school in the early morning. There was a stream half way to the school I must cross then. A long flat stone was put across the stream as a bridge. When stepping across the stone bridge, I must be more careful. Or I would fall off it and got shoes wet.

At that time there were always floods in the summer. Rainwater rushed from high places into the stream. The stream lifted its water level fiercely, washing away big stones and some small willows growing on the banks. I still remember clearly that a tall and big willow on the bank was ever knocked down. It kept raining for the whole day.

The climate has changed dramatically. In recent ten years, there has been less heavy rain and fog. And the village stream has been blocked with wastes discharged from small factories near the stream.

On Sundays there is no jogging. Students rushed out of the classroom to the playground to play basketball as soon as the second lesson was over. Standing near the window of the corridor, I could just see the outline of the students playing, and hear their shouting.

The fog started to get thinner and the sun didn’t come out till 12 o’clock. It was colder than the past days.

I had four lessons this morning.

This afternoon I came back to school and wanted to continue filling in the relevant forms and do some paper work. But the art building was locked and had to go back.

In the evening I came back to school again to attend a parental meeting for my daughter.

It was foggy all day through.
