Yesterday afternoon we held a parental meeting. After each big examination, we make it a rule to have a parental meeting. In this meeting I introduced to their parents the examination and the students’ situation of this past period , and asked them to make suggestions on our class or school work. I think this is a good chance to communicate with parents, and can also further mutual understanding and improve our teachers’ job. As far as some students’ personal affairs are concerned, we can handle them with the help of their parents.

After the parental meeting, we several head teachers had a meal outside, eating hot pot. Perhaps it will never be changed at all that teachers meet together at any occasions and always talk about their students and schools.  And we did so, too.

This afternoon one girl student came to my office and handed me a collective letter, applying for eight students taking three nights off to attend a dancing training course. The school art festival is coming. They will prepare for it. Yeah, this is a good thing. First I praised them. But the problem is what their parents will think of this course. Some guys are not doing well in school work. And their parents expressed their unsatisfaction about them in the parental meeting. And another big problem is that they will spend more night classes rehearsing if their program is approved. It will not be a big deal only about three nights’ absence. This is my bottom line.

At last I asked them to discuss with their parents first. If their parents agree to their plan and write me a formal agreement letter, it will be ok with me.

One thing they did really made me mad. They told me nothing in advance and entered their names for the course and each paid 40 Yuan already for the course.
